The most embarrassing things most people do during online meetings
Let’s face it, no matter how professional we try to be – sometimes life gets in the way, especially if you’re working remotely. As a new generation emerges from the pandemic who are fluent in video calls, online conferences and working from home, it’s not without a few hilarious bumps and bruises along the way. We’ve all been there! Here are the top four most embarrassing things that happen to even the best of us on Microsoft Teams.
The Bottoms Up
Some may call it laziness, others call it efficiency. When getting ready for a meeting, more often than not, most people admit to only dressing up the top half of their body. We’re talking make-up, fancy work shirt, and neat hair. However, there’s something else that’s lurking beneath the screen – pyjama pants, slippers, and very casual out-of-bed attire. This is still on the safe side of awkward moments on Microsoft Teams, that is until they ask you to stand up or go fetch something on camera – oops!
Background Bloopers
Sometimes those around us don’t get the memo. This one goes out to all our loved ones, be it friends, family, or pets – who decide to slide into online meetings. Regardless of how stealthy and sneaky they try or don’t try to be – the camera somehow seems to focus on the most bizarre background scenarios. A great way to avoid awkward background mishaps is to find a quiet corner with your back against the wall. This will massively decrease the chances of surprise visits sneaking up from behind.
The not-so-quiet comment
There’s a saying that goes, ‘If you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say anything at all.” We prefer taking the advice to heart when it comes to meetings on Microsoft Teams. Regardless of how confident you are, always double-check that you are on mute before making comments that you’d rather not have heard by the entire office. Although we’re all for transparency in the office space, we love the mute button so much more for allowing us those sneaky side conversations.
Showing too much
Online meetings sometimes get lengthy, and you are losing your focus. You start scrolling your phone, browsing something on the computer while others are discussing what might be out of the topic. Did someone write you on Facebook? Of course, we cannot wait to check the message. And suddenly you remember (or someone told you) that you were sharing your screen. Feeling a bit awkward right? Although we are sitting at home alone, still it is better to stay alert of what you are doing as everyone still sees you on camera or you just forgot to turn off screen sharing!
Forgetting to install isLucid
Are you still struggling to get everything down in your notes? No worries! We’ve got your back! Never miss a deadline or forget about an important task because you missed it during the meeting. Save time on wrap-up emails, task assignments, and descriptions with an innovative transcription service that enables call participants to create action items and be more efficient.
